The inspiration for my triptych came from my everyday life. I wanted to represent the progression of walking to class on a day when I really did not want to run into anyone or talk to anyone because I was stressed or even hungry. While this triptych does not represent my feelings on a daily basis, I think it is important to acknowledge that it is okay to not want to be social at times. Therefore, I created this triptych to share this message and help make sure everyone accepts their antisocial side.
Another aspect of this triptych is the headphones as protection. Women use headphones when walking alone to avoid engaging with strangers, especially strange men who street harass women. In these instances, headphones are protection not just for women who don’t want to be social, but also for women who don’t want to be harass and potentially assaulted by strangers.
